ADAPT

is where people with problems to do with physical disability can meet and share solutions.

Access to public buildings is of major concern. ADAPT inspect Tiverton and the villages so that we can help advise on better access to buildings and  improved parking facilities. We have close co-operation with MDDC.

TIVERTON ACCESS GUIDE

This is produced by ADAPT and is a book with which a disabled person can plan which shops to visit.  It is available free from various outlets in Tiverton: Town Hall; Boots; Superdrug; Citizens' Advice Bureau; Post Offices in Market Place & Westexe and GP's surgeries.

At ADAPT meetings we have speakers who can inform us about a variety of matters and provide answers to our problems.

The Disability Discrimination Act encourages the Statutory Authorities to consult with users whenever new buildings are being planned or old buildings are being renovated.

ADAPT is often asked to provide a disabled person to join a Working Party who can input their expertise for access and facilities. We are there with the decision makers.

ADAPT meets the 4th Monday of  the month (except May, Aug, Dec)
